Go to the past | Go to the future

In this life, there are some films that one will be told are horrid, but if you go in with low enough expectations you will enjoy. Examples that come to mind are AVP and Hating Alison Ashley. Actually, no, that last one just sucked. Anyways, if one can extend this brand of thinking, LA is like this.

I must take back calling this a roach hotel. The set up is nice and the bar is awesome. US$1 beers (sadly Bud) and margarettas until 2am; drinking with the kids from the hostel and the truckers; a juke box with Dire Straits. The microwave hamburgers do not, however, make for fine fare.
In matters of pointless trivia, it turns out that the suburb I am in is where Jules in Pulp Fiction lives.

So anyways, I caught the bus across Brisban.. I mean LA to St. Kild.. I mean Santa Monica this arvo. Nice enough place to spend the day. There are photos in the gallery. My last trip to Brisbane was more memorable though.

I think I need to start a running tally of how many times I'm asked if I'm British.
BRIT COUNT: 1

From Wikipedia

With globalization of brands, the existence of the Czech beer of the same name has caused problems in some markets. A long-standing agreement with the Czech brewer divided the rights to the name "Budweiser", so that the Anheuser-Busch product is marketed as "Bud" (in France and elsewhere) and "Anheuser-Busch B" (Germany), where the Czech beer has the rights to the name. Anheuser-Busch has made offers to buy out the Czech brewing company in order to secure global rights to the name "Budweiser" for both beers, but the Czech government has refused all such offers, considering keeping the Budweiser name Czech to be a matter of national pride.

The rights to use the name in the U.S. were purchased by founders of the company. They chose "Budweiser" because it was German-sounding and would appeal to other German immigrants, and it was easy for Americans to pronounce.

Interesting stuff.

Do people call your accent British or your appearance?

I can't appologise enough for dragging you along to that film... but in my defence I had such fond memories of the stage production... mind you I was probably 5 at the time! Kx
