Some utter bastard at some point somehow skimmed my EFTPOS card details and PIN when I used it. Thus, a few days before my recent trip (which I shall soon write about, in small bite-sized pieces) I had to cancel my card and convert the euros I had to the local currency and live off that and Visa in a country that's not the biggest on credit cards. It's just lucky I never leave much in that account. It's also lucky they made a withdrawal in a city I've never been to so I noticed. Arseholes.

Anyways, counting the days it seems I'm over half way through this trip now. I'll soon start putting some thought into some kind of do for my return.

Not too much thought my friend, as come this Sunday I will myself be headed over to your general continent! I expect to be in your immediate vicinity somewhere near mid to the end of July. What e-mail address are you most likely to be checking these days?

Bastiches!
Italy *does* have a bit of a reputation as being hopelessly, incorrigibly corrupt. Is this something you notice as a tour... medium-term visitor there?

Re: Bastiches!
They are indeed permanently dodgy, and occasionally stray into corrupt territory. To give to a measure, they have 2 entirely independent police forces with the exact same jurisdiction (except one is military police in a time of war) and part of their mandate is to investigate each other.
